VH1’s February Posted artist The Fray stopped by Big Morning Buzz Live today to play their new single “Heartbeat.” After their high energy performance of the song on Letterman, The Fray gave us a stripped back performance of the song, which was just as moving as the inspiring show they put on for Letterman. The guys also took the chance to give us the second installment of their Posted blog, and after the first poetic and intimate entry, this second post by lead guitarist Dave Welsh tells the story of the band’s Super Bowl experience. Read the post from February 6th after the jump.
Ushering in 2012 is our first Posted artist of the year, Kina Grannis. Kina will be with us all January, giving us updates from the road including photos, tweets and exclusive stories about her travels.
Kina had been kicking around the coffee house scene for the better part of the last decade until she won a contest sponsored by Doritos back in 2008, one which landed her a record deal and exposure to hundreds of millions of people during the Super Bowl. However, she didn’t officially “go viral” until late last year when her jellybean-tastic video for “In Your Arms” racked up over 4 million views on YouTube and earned her a 2011 OMA for Best Web Born Artist. If you want to know what to expect during Kina’s Posted run, watch this adorable video of Kina as she explains, “It’s gonna be a lot of fun. Over the course of the next month, I’ll be giving you a little inside look into who I am, what I do, where I go. Should be interesting, might be weird, possibly, probably, awkward, but I’m really looking forward to it so hopefully you guys have a fun time watching!” and then proudly displays her “jelly bean message.” So get ready for a month with Kina as she travels across the country promoting her new independent album, Stairwells.
September is nearly over, so we’re preparing to say goodbye to this month’s VH1 Posted artist Demi Lovato?but before we do, we’ve got a few unmissable updates. First up: her installment of Ask Me Anything. “I’m gonna answer as many questions as I can,” she says, and she isn’t kidding?we had to split her answers up into five parts. Eight minutes may not sound like a long time but trust us: for rapid-fire questions on a range of topics, it totally is. Check it out!
We’ve also got the rest of her killer Top 20 Live set for you! We’ve already shared her cover of “How To Love” and her mini-medley of earlier songs (the latter alongside an exclusive set of Music Seen photos), but we haven’t shared any performances of songs from Unbroken?which just debuted at #4 on the Billboard 200 (#1 in digital sales). How remiss of us! Above, hear her soulful slow-jam “My Love Is Like A Star,” and be sure to watch the set in full?including, of course, a killer rendition of “Skyscraper” to close out the performance.
Demi Lovato popped by VH1 HQ here in New York City earlier this week to promote her new chart-topping album, Unbroken.?September’s beloved Posted artist not only took time to answer a bunch of your “Ask Demi Lovato Anything” questions, but blew us away with a brilliant Top 20 Live performance; we’ll have both of these things for you to see very, very soon! Best of all, Demi even lent us her makeup artist Joyce Bonelli, who spilled details about how she achieved Demi’s natural, desert beauty look for the “Skyscraper” video. Now that’s what friends are for! See Joyce’s 10 tips below and grab the glam look for yourself.

Unbroken, Demi Lovato‘s new album, is in stores today, and to celebrate and promote the record, this month’s Posted artist is back in New York City. She played the Hammerstein Ballroom on Saturday night, and today she’ll be visiting our offices as today’s episode of The Ellen Show airs (featuring an interview and performance), before appearing on tonight’s Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. But thanks in part to an enthusiastic crowd of Lovatics outside the ABC studios, Lovato’s appearance on Good Morning America yesterday has made the biggest splash thus far. Nicole James gushed about the appearance for MTV’s Buzzworthy blog this morning, and below the jump you can see the interview with Robin Roberts, and her performance of “Skyscraper,” for yourself. And don’t forget to stay tuned for our exclusive coverage of her visit to VH1 today, and her own missives via Posted.
Next week, Demi Lovato is going to be paying our Times Square offices a visit. She’s going to be performing a special Top 20 Live set for us, but she’s also agreed to stick around afterwards to answer any questions that you, our VH1 Blog readers, have for her! All you Lovatics have to do to participate is to leave a question below in the comments, or send a tweet to @vh1 with the hashtag #askmeanything. We’re going to try and get her to answer a bunch of your questions, so get creative!

We’ve been anxious to hear Unbroken, the forthcoming album from September’s VH1 Posted artist Demi Lovato, for some time, and one track in particular had us very curious: “All Night Long,” a song produced by, and featuring, Missy Elliott and Timbaland. Now, less than a week before the album’s release, the track is streaming via Unbroken 9/20.net, a splash page for DemiLovato.com with a handy release-date reminder address.
Lovato gave a good capsule summary of the collaboration when she spoke to MTV News two weeks ago: “It’s about staying up all night long and singing it to the boy that you like, and it’s flirty and fun and it’s not too grown-up, but it’s grown-up enough.” Despite the heavy-hitters’ contributions, Lovato is indisputably the star of the show, and she’s certainly got her pop-song flirt-mode on lock (“I like you, put your number in my phone/ Yeah, you heard me right, so call me when you’re all alone”). Missy Elliott, who has always had a knack for being raunchy yet radio-friendly (remember the elephant noise on “Work It”?) nevertheless dials it back for her verse (“Will you be my type by the end of the night?/ We can pillow fight”) in order to match that vibe without compromising her voice. Timbaland’s highly processed vocal contributions provide the hook and various interjections for Lovato to play off. In short? It’s super fun.
Demi Lovato will be at the VH1 offices on Tuesday, Unbroken‘s release date, talking about the album and answering your questions! Ask her anything by posting your question in the comments of the update she shared with us on Monday! We’ll try to ask as many of your questions as we can.

It’s been quite a month we’ve gotten to spend with our September Posted artist of the month, Demi Lovato, so far. She’s given us some great scoop on her new album, Unbroken, and took us behind the scenes at Perez Hilton’s birthday party. Currently, she’s in the midst of rehearsals for two big Unbroken preview shows in New York City and Los Angeles, but we’re thankful that she managed to find a few minutes to send us a quick update.
Before we let her share her experiences, we’re excited to announce that next Tuesday, 9/20, Demi will be popping by the VH1 offices here in Times Square. She’s agreed to let you, her fans, “Ask Her Anything,” so fire away! Leave your questions in the comments and she’ll answer as many as she can get to when she gets in next week. Now take it away, Demi!
I am getting sooooo excited for my upcoming shows in NY (9/17) and LA (9/23)!!! ?I have been rehearsing all week and I think everyone is going to love it! I have been having so much fun performing “Skyscraper” on shows like America’s Got Talent and the Do Something Awards, but I am really excited for all my fans to hear some of the other songs on my album. The dance numbers are so awesome!!!
There’s more from Demi, including two exclusive photos from the set of her Unbroken cover shoot, below!
We always knew there was something we liked about Demi Lovato. Maybe it was her unabashed love for Canadian teen musical drama Instant Star. Maybe it was the way in which she has, after taking a brief career hiatus to address health issues, been surprisingly brave in her willingness to talk about her experiences, and to insist on the ordinariness of them, in the face of a celebrity-gossip machine that sensationalizes and ostracizes anything related to questions of mental health. In any case, when we heard “Skyscraper,” and saw the video, we knew we had to book her for the 2011 Do Something! Awards. And when we saw that performance, we knew we had to get her on board as a VH1 Posted artist. Of course, even before any of this Lovato would have been a great candidate; she’s known for being extremely open to communication with her fans (the Alexz Johnson revelation, for example, was from a live chat from over two years ago). But with “Skyscraper” currently at #2 on the VH1 Top 20 Countdown, the timing couldn’t be better.
We’ll definitely be checking Posted.VH1.com all month long for exclusive updates from Demi Lovato, and we recommend you do the same!
Gavin DeGraw had a rough August. Not long after we joined him for Posted, he was hospitalized after being attacked(!) then hit by a taxi(!!) but with rest and care he returned two weeks later, as happy-go-lucky as ever. In this, his final Posted clip, the ever-gracious DeGraw saw fit to take a moment out of bidding a fond farewell…to apologize for his “little incident”! We’re just glad he was able to heal up and return to his leg of the Maroon 5/Train tour (You Oughta Know alum Matt Nathanson stepped in as of August 28), and impressed that despite everything he continued to keep us posted, as much as was possible, throughout the month. He’ll be announcing a new tour shortly, but in the meantime he’s begun the latest promotional push for Sweeter, due out September 20. So long, Gavin!
