Matthew McConaughey’s Movie Booed at Cannes Film Festival

Fans are not happy.

It seems Matthew McConaughey has pulled a Vincent Chase from Entourage. According to TMZ, the oscar winner debuted his new movie Sea of Trees at a private screening at Cannes, which wasn’t met with positive reviews. Viewers kept quiet during the film out of respect, but when the credits started rolling, Variety called it a “chorus of boos” erupted for the movie.

Directed by Gus Van Sant, which also stars Naomi Watts and Ken Watanabe. McConaughey plays an American seeking to kill himself in a forest near Mount Fuji after the death of his wife. Sea of Trees was one of the most anticipating films at Cannes, and now its future isn’t looking very bright.
