Who Is the Ultimate Disney Channel HBIC?

? "Call me, beep me, if you 'wanna reach me!" ?

Disney Channel has a solid track record of putting strong, relatable everygirls at the forefront of its TV shows. It started with the Hilary Duff-led Lizzie McGuire, continued through animation (Kim Possible) and still very much exists in the 2010s (Zendaya in Shake It Up, anyone?). All of these ladies are queens in their own rights, but who reigns supreme as the ultimate Disney Channel HBIC? There can really only be one, but it’s not an easy decision. After combing through all the shows, here are our top 10 contenders. Let us know if you agree in the comments below.

  • 1 10. Rocky Blue
    Disney Channel
Please see this handy-dandy article if you’re curious why Rocky (Zendaya) begins our list. Her on-the-show and real-life slay are both incomparable.

  • 2 9. Alison “Sonny” Munroe
    Disney Channel
Sonny with a Chance only lasted for two seasons and 47 episodes, but Ms. Munroe (Demi Lovato)’s impact is eternal. Need we remind you of the golden moment from this photo? She is literally all of us.

  • 3 8. London Tipton
    Disney Channel
Brenda Song captured the vapid essence of London—an obvious Paris Hilton parody—down to the last swab of mascara. The pretty rich girl is a stereotype we’ve seen time and time again in pop culture, but there was a silliness to London that was refreshing. Plus, she’s loaded as hell, and HBICs need their coins.

  • 4 7. Alex Russo
    Disney Channel
Selena Gomez was an utter delight as the adorkable, sassy and magical Alex. Her dynamic personality gives her a place on our countdown—that, and the fact she would cast a spell on us if we didn’t!

  • 5 6. Penny Proud
    Disney Channel
Don’t think we forgot about your animated faves! Of course the family-loving, blazer(?)-wearing, LaCienega Boulevardez-hating Penny makes the cut. She’s not afraid to speak her damn mind and go toe-to-toe with the Gross sisters. Definition of a badass.

  • 6 5. Kim Possible
    Disney Channel
The technologically-savvy Kim, with her green cargo pants, male sidekick and crime-fighting #skillz, was many Y2K girls’ first exposure to feminism. Finally, a character more obsessed with kicking butt than boys. She is life goals in cartoon form.

  • 7 4. Hannah Montana/Miley Stewart
    Disney
When you’re a famous pop star (or at least moonlight as one), you get a spot on this list. No questions asked.

  • 8 3. Ren Stevens
    Disney Channel
Ren (Christy Carlson Romano) is easily the smartest person in any room she enters, and a true queen bee always needs to stay ahead of the pack. Sure, she’s not exactly a ray of sunshine all the time, but she knows how to keep basics in line—i.e.: her idiot brother Louis (Shia LaBeouf) and bacon-loving neighbor Beans (Steven Anthony Lawrence). And, when it’s all said and done, isn’t that the epitome of the HBIC archetype?

  • 9 2. Raven Baxter
    Disney Channel
As the mischievous psychic, Raven (Raven-Symoné)’s wit, humor and compassion give her total queen status. She was a tad self-absorbed, but what HBIC isn’t? Plus, Raven can tell your literal future at the drop of a hat. She’s a keeper.

  • 10 1. Lizzie McGuire
    Disney
Goofy, lovable and drenched with girl-next-door prowess, Lizzie (Hilary Duff) is the best friend you wish you had during those tumultuous pre-teen years. What Lizzie lacked in popularity she made up for in fierce loyalty to her best pals Gordo (Adam Lamberg) and Miranda (LaLaine). But keep a close eye on her: She’s accident-prone. For sheer likeability, Lizzie takes the crown for us.
