Giving birth is an art form. Have you seen The Miracle of Life? It will forever scar you change your views about the birthing process.
Though you can (and should) plan ahead for labor, you can’t always be prepared for everything that will happen. You also can’t predict how you’re going to feel during labor. You just might pull a Miranda Kerr and have your husband pee in a bottle so as to avoid leaving your side.
From Erykah Badu’s Twitter play-by-play to Megan Fox’s wet hair crisis, these celebrities had truly bizarre birthing stories. Motherhood: It’s a strange and beautiful thing, eh?

Mariah Carey gave birth to her twins while listening to none other than Mariah Carey—specifically the live, Madison Square Garden version of her song “Fantasy.” Nick Cannon revealed on The Gayle King Show that Carey “wanted to make sure that when the babies came out, they came out not only to a Mariah Carey song, but a live performance from Mariah Carey.” -

“I ended up on all fours in the back of a taxi with my husband on the way to the hospital,” Fey said about her pregnancy with daughter Alice back in 2007. It’s unclear why Fey ended up in this position, but she continued on to explain that the delivery was fairly smooth. -

Kourtney Kardashian could not have had a calmer reaction to her water breaking when she was pregnant with son Mason. Kardashian apparently put makeup on and did some laundry before heading to the hospital. While giving birth to her daughter Penelope, she pulled the child out of her body with her own two hands. -

Mayim Bialik, who once nursed her first-born on a New York City subway, gave birth to her second son at home in front of her husband and oldest son. Bialik described the incident as such: “Frederick slithered out and Miles was carried out of his highchair to cut the cord. A small spurt of blood startled him, and he promptly asked my husband to finish the job.” -

Miranda Kerr’s 27-hour labor was challenging for many reasons, but one bizarre tidbit she shared about the process actually had to do with her husband at the time. Kerr reportedly didn’t want Orlando Bloom to leave her side during labor—not even to go to the bathroom. So Bloom ended up peeing in a bottle. -
6 Erykah BaduGetty Images
Erykah Badu and baby daddy Jay Electronica documented the birth of their daughter, Mars Merkaba Thedford, on Twitter—of all places. “Morning, I’m in labor,” Badu tweeted at the beginning of the process. “I see the head, full of hair,” Jay Electronica added during the delivery. -

When Sarah Shahi’s water broke, she decided to make a day of it and go shopping with her husband. “I told my husband [Steve Howey], ‘I want to go, I don’t want to sit around and wait for the labor,’” she said, adding that she had contractions while walking through the shoe department. “And then we went to American Apparel and we went to the liquor store. I bought a bottle of brandy.” Shahi then went home to give birth. -
8 Megan FoxGetty Images
Megan Fox was eager to get to the hospital after realizing her water broke, but there was one thing stopping her. “I had wet hair so I was trying to blow dry my hair before I went to the hospital,” she said. “I didn’t want to go to the hospital with wet hair!” By the time Fox got to the hospital, she was “screaming for an epidural.” -
9 Gisele BündchenGetty Images
Gisele Bündchen shocked us all when she revealed that her experience giving birth to son Benjamin at home wasn’t painful in the slightest. She opted to go drug-free because she wanted “to feel” everything that was happening, which apparently wasn’t much. “The whole time, my head was so focused – every contraction, the baby is closer, the baby is closer. So, it wasn’t like, ’Oh, what pain.’ It was, ’With every contraction, he is getting closer to me,'” she said. -

Kaitlin Olson went into labor while watching a Phillies game with her husband—and didn’t leave right away. “As soon as Ryan Howard hit a three-run home run, we felt comfortable leaving to go have our baby…. We love him like crazy, even though he made us miss the second half of the game,” she later revealed.
