Celebrities Who Have Mastered the Art of Co-Parenting

Feelings may change, but family is forever.

If you’ve ever found yourself co-parenting with an ex, thoughts along the lines of “But how are we going to do this?” may have run through your head. Lucky for all of us, we can look to the stars for some answers.

The following celebrities are model co-parents, proving that family conquers all (including failed relationships). The key each of these co-parenting units seem to have figured out? Put the kids first, plain and simple. From Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony to Mimi Faust and Stevie J, these celebrities have a thing or two to teach about co-parenting.

    Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin can add “consciously uncoupled co-parenters” to their resumes. Paltrow and Martin get along so well, she went so far as to call him her “brother” on The Today Show. “Even though we’re not in a romantic relationship, we’re a true family,” she said. “He’s like my brother. I’m very close to him.”

    Pete Wentz thinks co-parenting with Ashlee Simpson is easy as pie. Speaking to Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live, Wentz revealed what makes co-parenting with his ex go so smoothly. “We both realize that we’re parents and we’re in it for our kid and that’s made it really easy,” he said, calling Simpson an “awesome mom.”

    Jennifer Lopez told Arianna Huffington in 2014 that she and Marc Anthony are “very good friends” and supportive of one another. “I feel it’s my responsibility as a mom when their dad is not there to let them know that their dad loves them very much… That’s my job to do that the same way it’s his job when he’s with them to say ’Mommy is working and she loves you.'”

    Things got heated between Mashonda Tifrere, Swizz Beatz and Alicia Keys after Tifrere and Swizz’s marriage ended in 2010. But Tifrere and Swizz have since overcome their differences to master the art of co-parenting. Tifrere wrote an article explaining the keys to successful co-parenting, noting that it’s “not about your feelings.”
