Lindsay Lohan Says She Was Racially Profiled at the Airport, But Twitter Isn't Buying It

Less than a week after encouraging Americans to rally behind President Trump, Lindsay Lohan claims she got a first hand taste of what it's like to be unfairly targeted at an airport.

The Mean Girls actress, who made London her home a few years ago (like the new accent?), had a televised sit down with Good Morning Britain where she recalls being stopped at Heathrow Airport for wearing a headscarf. She says her saving grace was the agent's realization that she is a celebrity. "When I was flying to New York recently I was wearing a headscarf and I got stopped at the airport and was racially profiled for the first time in my life," she told cohosts Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid. "[The agent] opened my passport and saw Lindsay Lohan and started apologizing but said, 'Take off your headscarf.'"

Lindsay agreed to remove her headdress, but the startling encounter stuck with her. "What scared me was, at that moment, how would another woman who doesn’t feel comfortable taking off her headscarf feel? That was really interesting to me. I was kind of in shock.”

Twitter users immediately responded to Lindsay's story and...let's just say the headlines were less than sympathetic.

With the lingering affects of the Muslim ban still in the air, what's really "interesting" in all of this is that Lindsay's empathy towards people who experience this type of targeting every single day was never so outward until she experienced a brief moment of non-celebrity treatment.
