These Celebrity Bromances Show Us What True Friendship Really Means

Who says that bromance is dead?

It seems that every other day we see celebrities in blossoming friendships, only to have our hearts ripped from our chests when we find out that they’re no longer friends. Or worse, when we see on-screen friendships that simply didn’t translate into real life.

But what happens when a bro-lationship becomes too bro-tastic for celebrities to bear? Sometimes, the friendship is so strong there is no other way to describe it: It’s a bromance. That is certainly the case for these celebs who, through thick and thin, have stuck by each other’s side.

  • 1 Frank Ocean and Brad Pitt
There’s nothing like a blossoming bromance to thaw your cold, unfeeling heart. In an interview with GQ, Brad sang Frank’s praises when he admitted to listening to his music while going through his divorce: “Talk about getting to the raw truth. He’s painfully honest. He’s very, very special.” Ocean responded in kind when he broadcasted a video of Brad at FYF Fest during his performance of the Jackson 5’s “Never Can Say Goodbye.” Ah, to be young and bromantic.

  • 2 Matt Damon and Ben Affleck
This Hollywood bromance is famous in its own right. The pair have been friends since they were just 10 years old, and it looks like they’ll be friends forever. Ben has said of Matt, “I can’t tell you how valuable it is to have somebody who’s been through things with you, ups and downs, who knows what your life experience is like, who can identify with that.”

  • 3 The Love & Hip Hop Creep Squad
Through ups and downs, ins and outs, the Creep Squad is perhaps the most iconic example of bromance and brotherhood on Love & Hip Hop. Rich Dollaz, Peter Gunz, DJ Self, and Cisco Rosado may have since fallen out, but you know what they say: “Once a creep, always a creep.”

  • 4 Justin Timberlake and Jimmy Fallon
This dynamic duo is probably the funniest on our list. Justin even wrote an essay about Jimmy when he was named one of Time’s 100 Most Influential People in 2013. In it, he shared this bro-mantic story: “I’m in the heart of an impromptu speech at my wedding reception in front of 150 guests, pouring it out to my lovely new bride. You could hear a pin drop. I paused for just a moment in between thoughts. And then there was Jimmy, shouting a joke from his seat, sparking an improv between the two of us that went on for a good five or 10 minutes and had all our guests roaring with laughter.”

  • 5 Seth Rogen and James Franco
Seth and James met on the set of Freaks and Geeks when Seth was just 17 and Franco was 21. The pair have collaborated constantly since, causing both controversy and laughs with their outrageous projects. The buddies will do anything for each other, even ride a motorcycle shirtless in their parody of Kanye’s “Bound 2,” which got them an invitation to the Kimye wedding, by the way.

  • 6 Zach Braff and Donald Faison
This duo may be famous for their on-screen friendship on Scrubs, but off-screen, they’re the pinnacle of celebrity bromance. Faison told Yahoo Celebrity, “It has to be real. The only way to have a real bromance is if you’re genuinely fond of each other. [Zach]’s my best friend. I’m really fond of that man, I’m not ashamed to say it. And to the supporters of our bromance, I’d like to say, thank you.”

  • 7 Blake Shelton and Adam Levine
They may act more like frenemies than bros in love on The Voice but this unlikely pairing has definitely become a staple in the bromance community. When Adam received his star on the Walk of Fame, Blake gave a sweet speech saying, “I’ve never had a more honest and loyal friend than Adam Levine.”

  • 8 Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum
This funny duo has made five films together, and we hope that they don’t plan on stopping any time soon. The pair even go to each other for advice. Jonah told Jimmy Fallon on the Tonight Show that he called Tatum and asked, “If I, you know, eat less and go to a trainer, will I like, get in good shape?” To which Tatum responded in true bro fashion, “Yeah, you dumb motherf*cker. It’s the simplest thing in the entire world.”

  • 9 Toby McGuire and Leo DeCaprio
This famous pair met way back in 1990 when they were just kids looking to make it big in Hollywood. Since then, the two have been photographed on vacations together, playing sports, and generally just hanging out like two bros do. Toby told People Magazine, “Leo and I have a lot of trust and respect for each other. We have a close friendship and I definitely have an affection for Leo.”

  • 10 Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen
This bromance started in 1999 on the set of X-Men and has become one of the most famous bromances of all time. And though their careers have only passed a few times since then, the two can frequently be seen joking around on Twitter, and McKellan even officiated Stewart’s wedding in 2013.

  • 11 Big Boi And Andre 3000
Outkast may have split in 2006, but the bromance is still strong with these two. Big Boi told HuffPost Live, “We’re brothers before music. We were brothers before this, and we’re going to be brothers for life.”

  • 12 Cole and Dylan Sprouse
Okay, okay, so these two are actual brothers. But hear us out: You don’t have to be in a bromance with your brother, but these twins are the best of friends. Don’t believe us? They’ve got the hilarious Twitter feeds to prove it.

  • 13 David Beckham and Snoop Dogg
This unlikely pair famously met in 2007 on Snoop’s reality show Snoop Dogg’s Father Hood. Beckham gave Snoop’s kids a soccer lesson, and in exchange Snoop took him to Roscoe’s House of Chicken ‘n’ Waffles (Please, do yourself a favor and watch the clip.) They’ve been friends ever since. Snoop spoke highly of his British pal on BBC Radio 1 saying, “He’s a great father, a great husband and a great friend, I love our friendship and some people in life just come together for some odd reason.”

  • 14 Ed Sheeran and Harry Styles
The two may constantly be battling at the top of the charts, but their friendship is skin deep. That is, the bros have matching tattoos. Ed told MTV News that he got one of his tattoos “with Harry Styles, he got Pingu [written under his arm],” Sheeran said, “Kinda like a bro tat.”
