Sometimes Hollywood can be a little Holly-weird. It feels like just when you get used to seeing a celebrity couple together, splashed across the pages of the tabloids at the supermarket or taking over your Instagram feed, *poof* they’re no longer an item. But some of these relationships really do make you believe in the long-haul. There are marriages, children, and real lives being lived behind the glitz and glamour. Admit it: You get a little invested.
And we all know how awful a breakup can be for us normal folks. Usually there’s ice cream involved, some pizza, maybe a pep talk or two from your pals, a night out that ends with you in the bathroom crying (“But I miss him Kelly! Just one phone call!”) while your friends yank your phone out of your death grip. Think of all of the cute Instagrams you might have to delete! And forget it if you were Facebook official. You’re one click away from Aunt Brenda commenting, “But you were such a lovely couple! I thought you were getting married! xoxo Brenda.”
So we can only imagine what it is like for celebrities to go their separate ways in the public eye. Some celebrity couples quietly file for divorce, others hash it out via press release. For these celebs, they decided to be super specific when it came to telling the public about their break-ups, using some very non-traditional language. Hey, maybe you want to post a Facebook status saying you’re “consciously uncoupling” or “taking respectful, loving space” next time. It would probably shut your Aunt Brenda up.
