In this bonus clip from RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars, we catch a glimpse into Bebe’s life in Cameroon long before drag, and it has us in our feels!
When the girls see an old photo backstage, Bebe enlightens us all about where she came from and how she got here.
Back in Cameroon, there wasn’t much for Bebe outside of church and she sheds light on the importance of opportunities for art and self-expression within communities. She moved to the states for a world of opportunity. Now, Bebe gets to live out her “American Dream” as a drag queen and serves as an inspiration to those back home in Cameroon. It’s very clear that Bebe takes nothing for granted and celebrates all her opportunities. While they girls in the werk room all gag for Bebe’s vintage photos and her looking like a “religious Steve Urkel,” she says that she continues to pay homage to the women from back home and from her church for allowing her to express herself way back when.
Tune into RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars next week on Thursday 8/7c to see what else we can learn about our Bebe!
