Tired of all the overhyped celebrities who somehow get us to care about their new relationship, talk show or album in 2013? Jealous of all the attention twerking has gotten, when you’ve been making it clap for years? Did selfies and Candy Crush ruin your friendships? It’s 2014, which means all this and more needs to go, no matter how much support it gets from James Franco.
As the lifestyle gurus like to say: it’s a new year, and a new you. So you can say goodbye to those Google Alerts for “Justin Bieber + Brazilian Prostitute” and “Miley + Foam Finger”–that’s not to say either one is over their wild ways, it’s just that the next 12 months will undoubtedly give us knew things to become much too informed about. Like we did with the songs that have been squatting inside of our eardrums, there are plenty of pop culture elements that need to go on a permanent hiatus in the new year. Check out our list of people (Paula Deen, Kris Jenner) and practices (twerking, social media narcissism) that ruled the year that was, and join us in believing that they must be stopped. Immediately.
Friends who say “killing it”: you’re on notice.
