Producer Phil Spector Arrested In Connection With Slaying
Rock veteran's résumé includes Beatles, Righteous Brothers, Diana Ross, Tina Turner.

Iconic producer Phil Spector was arrested Monday in connection with the shooting death of a woman at his mansion in a Los Angeles suburb.
Spector, whose résumé includes albums by artists ranging from the Beatles to the Ramones,
was taken into custody after officers responded to a 911 call in Alhambra shortly after 5 a.m., according to a Los Angeles County Sheriff's spokesperson.
The victim, a woman whose identity is being withheld pending notification of her family, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Spector, 63, is being held at the Alhambra police station. Bail was set at $1 million, according to the spokesperson. Attorney Robert Shapiro, whose clients have included O.J. Simpson and Darryl Strawberry, is defending Spector, but he declined to comment.
As the pioneer of the Wall of Sound production technique, in which layer upon layer of instruments are placed atop each other, Spector is renowned for his work with the Beatles, the Righteous Brothers, Diana Ross, Tina Turner and former wife Ronnie Bennett's group, the Ronettes. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1989.
Spector is also widely known for his eccentricities. Dee Dee Ramone told MTV News before his death last year that while recording the Ramones' End of the Century (1980), Spector held him hostage for two days and had a number of guns in his mansion. However, Dee Dee's bandmate Marky Ramone told Fox News on Monday that Spector was not violent. "I don't think he would hurt a fly," the drummer said.
The producer has allegedly pulled guns on numerous peers over the years, ranging from John Lennon to David Geffen, according to various biographies.
A millionaire and producer of 20 consecutive hits by his early 20s, Spector recently came out of reclusion to work with Starsailor.
