Ruben Studdard was admitted to a Birmingham, Alabama, hospital Monday night, suffering from exhaustion.

hospital through the end of the week, according to his spokesperson.

All of the appearances on Studdard's packed promotional schedule, including a concert at Alabama State University on Wednesday and Atlantic City, New Jersey, shows Friday and Saturday, have been canceled.

Last week, Studdard filmed a holiday special, "Kelly, Ruben & Fantasia: Home for Christmas," which will air Wednesday on FOX.

I Need an Angel is a return to Ruben's gospel roots and features traditional numbers like "Amazing Grace" along with a few tunes he wrote himself (see "Ruben Studdard Decides Christmas Just Isn't Spiritual Enough").
