NEW YORK — Kanye West is going to be celebrating his 28th birthday this week. So what do you get the man who has everything? If you're his friend Jamie Foxx, maybe you consider just saying yes.
West is producing on Foxx's
upcoming Love Music, but the Chi-Town Grammy winner wants a key performance slot on the album (see "Twista To Reunite With Kanye And Jamie Foxx On Kamikaze Follow-Up").
Foxx sings on "Gold Digger," the next single off West's Late Registration. "Diamonds," the lead cut off that album, is already on the radio, and the video should be airing soon (see "Kanye, Jay-Z Give An Early Peek At West's Late Registration").
"I been begging him to let me rap on the first single," West said. " 'Man, Jamie, what's up? What's good, man? I rap all right, man, you could let me get that shot. You was on my first single ['Slow Jamz'], you on my next single — let me get that shot, come on.'
"Jamie's a fool. He comes in, we'll be joking around," West explained of collaborating with the Oscar winner. "We all have a good time, it's really good energy. He plays his music, it's inspiring, it's fun."
