arm, DJ AM reclaimed his place behind the decks Wednesday night, joining rapper Jay-Z for a special concert celebrating the reopening of the Hollywood Palladium, The Associated Press reports.

The Palladium, which once hosted the likes of Frank Sinatra, "The Lawrence Welk Show," Led Zeppelin and the Emmy Awards, was reborn after a $20 million renovation.

AM (born Adam Goldstein) quietly slipped onstage to his post behind the ones and twos, as part of Jay's eight-piece backup band. With scars visible from the audience (AM has undergone two skin-graft surgeries), the DJ made his first live appearance since the September 19 crash that also seriously injured former Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker.

According to the AP, AM was in his element Wednesday night, scratching, rapping along with Jay-Z and flashing hand gestures throughout the set. After Jay performed his song "Show Me What You Got," he called on the sold-out audience to "make some noise for DJ AM tonight." Jay also gave a shout-out to Barker and the crash victims. AM was released from an Atlanta burn center less than a week after the crash, which killed the plane's two pilots; Barker's assistant, Chris "Lil Chris" Baker; and Barker's bodyguard, Charles "Che" Still.

AM will also be appearing with Jay-Z Thursday night (October 16) in Houston and October 25 in Charlottesville, Virginia. The AP reports that AM will resume his residency at Caesars Palace's Pure nightclub in Las Vegas next week.
