have all been confirmed to headline Lollapalooza 2009, according to reports in The Chicago Tribune and Billboard. The festival is scheduled to be held August 7-9 in Chicago's Grant Park.

Though the entire Lolla lineup won't be revealed officially until April, both outlets have confirmed with industry sources that three of the fest's six headliners (each night is topped by two big-name acts; last year's Lollapalooza was famously closed by Kanye West and Nine Inch Nails duking it out on opposite stages) have already been locked in, and two of them have strong Lolla ties.

Of course, Lollapalooza was founded in 1991 by Jane's Addiction frontman Perry Farrell, and Jane's headlined the fest's initial run (the reunited Jane's Addiction, featuring their original lineup, is also confirmed to tour with Nine Inch Nails this summer).

The Beasties played the 1994 edition of Lolla, sharing the bill with acts like the Smashing Pumpkins, the Breeders and A Tribe Called Quest. And although they've never actually played the festival, Depeche Mode can certainly be credited with helping spread the alt-culture of the early '90s, with classic albums like Violator and Songs of Faith and Devotion.

Kings of Leon are the only headliners who weren't actively making music when Lollapalooza first launched (the bandmembers were barely old enough to attend), but they've been riding high on the breakout success of last year's Only by the Night album, and recently sold out New York's Madison Square Garden.
