MTV News revealed the entire Hottest MCs in the Game list of 2009, and Drake came in at #3, right behind Jay and Wayne.

"That's crazy," he said. "That's a dream, man. I'm at such an early stage in my career. I'm still learning from all these MCs that are on the list. Personally, I'm honored to be anywhere. There's no number where I think I should be [on the list]. I'm not gonna sit here and be like '#3!' It's just an honor for MTV to even bring up my name. That's crazy. That's really crazy, man. That's something to celebrate. We gotta celebrate tonight. I don't mind being #3.

"That's humbling for this 22 year-old kid from Canada," he continued. "That's amazing, man. For real. ... I think that MTV managed to involve everybody that was relevant this year. If you're relevant, that means you're doing something right. That's the key to it. ... Certain people may not be able to appreciate what Drake does or what somebody else does. At the end of the day, it's about building that fanbase and having that support behind you. Everybody on that list deserves to be there. I'm just happy to be one of them. I'm so high up, thank you again. I'm honored."

Drake has been consistent with high-octane verses since putting out his So Far Gone mixtape earlier this year. He's also been a staple on the guest-appearance circuit, recruited by Jamie Foxx, Mary J. Blige and Jay-Z, among others.

Even with his hot streak, Drake said he still has a long way to go in his eyes.

"To be on this large of a platform at such an early stage, learning the logistics of hip-hop, I don't know if I had a moment that made me say, 'I should be on the Hottest list,' " he said. "I still listen back to So Far Gone and a lot of the stuff and be like, 'I know I could do better than this.' I'm still pushing myself to become one of the best. I don't look at myself as one of the best. But there were amazing moments this year where I learned about myself as a hip-hop artist."
