NEW YORK — The King of Vanilla soul and sex appeal hit New York City last night for a show supporting his Sex Therapy: The Session album. Thicke, wearing all black, started the show off with his new song "Diamonds," with his hypeman singing the parts Game sings on the album. The hypeman came back several times to sing on songs including "Shooters," the studio version of which features Lil Wayne. Buzzsaw Nicki Minaj came out as Thicke's special guest on "Shakin' It for Daddy." While Nick displayed plenty of charisma and energy, the moment wasn't able to be fully appreciated because her mic volume was too low. Instead of hearing Minaj's live voice, the fans could only hear the recorded vocals. "Ting-a-ling-a-ling, school bell a-ring-a-ling," she rapped. "Stick shift the ding-a-ling/ Ball like Yao Ming-a-ling" she continued, pointing to Thicke's family jewels. The singer proceeded to touch himself at that point. Thicke would shift back and forth between his new album and his catalog favorites such as "Lost Without You," which kept female fans screaming. The singer also name-checked powerful women such as Beyoncé and Michelle Obama during the show. "How does it feeee-eeee-llll to know I love you, love you baby?" he sang with passion. Robin left the stage and returned several minutes later for his encore. He started with his own songs, "Magic" and "Love You Girl," to which he danced the timeless hip-hop Project Stomp. Then Thicke covered classics like Michael Jackson's "Rock With You," Al Green's "Let's Stay Together" and Lil Wayne's "Milli." Yes "Milli." Although Thicke didn't attempt to rap the entire song and used the record more as traveling music to give the fans music to leave with, he threw in lines here and there like "what's a goon to goblin."
