Asher Roth Squelches Gay Rumors


Reports spread that MC would be coming out of the closet on a TV special.

Fans know that Asher Roth loves college, parties and perhaps most of all, women. One thing he apparently doesn't love is Internet rumors about his sexuality.

in recent days that claimed he would be coming out of the closet during an E! News special to be broadcast over the holidays. Other rumors said that Roth would soon be dropped from his label, SRC Records, to which he's signed via a deal with Universal/Motown Records.

A representative for SRC released a statement on Sunday refuting all of the allegations.

"Asher Roth is not gay, and is not scheduled to be interviewed on the E! Channel," the statement reads. "Furthermore, Asher has not been dropped from SRC Records, and is a top priority at the label after having sold over a million copies his 'I Love College' single. Asher is currently working on his next album for SRC," the follow-up to his debut Asleep in the Bread Aisle.

The rumor about Roth apparently began when the rapper reportedly made a remark supporting former "American Idol" singer Clay Aiken, who is gay. Blogs and Web sites then posted information that Roth attended a gay rights parade with Lady Gaga, Aiken, and members of Blink-182.

Roth himself has not commented on the matter, and but the Pennsylvania native did tweet on Sunday that he was about to watch some football.

"Headed to this Eagles/Niners war w fam and friends," he wrote. "Who's tailgating for real?"
