Movies, for better or worse, often serve as time capsules for the period they're created in. And if the films of the past eight years are anything to go by, it's been quite an interesting time to be alive. From advances in animation that make children's movies compelling for adults, to the multi-sequeled reign of the blockbusters, to the emotional depth ushered in by tales of drugs and despair, the past near-decade has spawned some fantastic films, many of which will go down in the annals of cinema.
