This year, Hollywood lost a brilliant actor when Heath Ledger passed away at 28. Ledger got his start in television in his native Australia in the early '90s, and would move to Los Angeles, completely penniless, to start a film career in the United States. His first big break came with 1999's 10 Things I Hate About You, but it was obvious from the outset that Ledger preferred the craft to the limelight. For every role showcasing his heartthrob status, Ledger would take one shrouding it. In short, Ledger was a fearless actor who never played the same role twice. And while he's mourned for being so much more than just an actor, we celebrate the roles that showcased Ledger's immense talent.
