Macy Gray's Id To Drop In September
Gray, Rick Rubin to serve as executive producers; Erykah Badu to sing back-up on one cut.

If it's anything like what its title suggests, Macy Gray's second album, The Id, will be as unbridled as her hairstyles.
"It's way over the top, it's wild," she said Tuesday at a benefit for the Candie's Foundation in New York. "It's like
real eccentric, it's dope. I love it."
Gray and Rick Rubin will serve as executive producers on the follow-up to 1999's On How Life Is, which is in the mixing and mastering stage and is scheduled for release September 25, according to an Epic Records spokesperson (see "Macy Gray Plans The Id LP, 'Spider-Man' Role"). Though a specific tracklisting has yet to be determined, Erykah Badu sings back-up on one song likely to make the final cut, and Gray said the tentatively dubbed "Give Me Some Lovin' " is her favorite of the bunch. Other guests are expected, the spokesperson said.
The gravelly-voiced songstress explained that fans should notice a shift from the romance grumbling of her debut to something a bit more mature. "I grew up over the last couple of years ... and I'm sort of expressing now that I've grown up a little bit."
