Over 200 talented students from 45 elementary and middle schools throughout the District will showcase their musical achievements. VH1 Save The Music Foundation will announce a grant of $300,000 worth of new musical instruments to restore instrumental music programs in 10 School District of Philadelphia elementary and middle schools.

BOWLING FOR SOUP JOINS DAVE & BUSTER’S TO DONATE $25,000 TO THE VH1 SAVE THE MUSIC FOUNDATION

Dave & Buster’s donated $25,000 to the VH1 Save The Music Foundation to help restore music education programs throughout the School District of Philadelphia Public School District during a ceremony at Dave & Buster’s in Philadelphia. The money went directly toward the purchase of new musical instruments as part of The Foundation’s efforts with Comcast Cable to restore $300,000 worth of instrumental music programs in Philadelphia during the 2007-2008 school year.

The ceremony also feature a live acoustic performance by Jaret Reddick and Erik Chandler from Bowling For Soup, who just wrapped up their Get Happy Tour sponsored by Dave and Buster’s. Students from past Philadelphia grant recipient schools, school officials, community members, and representatives from both the VH1 Save The Music Foundation and Dave & Buster’s were also be on hand.

JUNE 7, 2007

On Thursday June 7th, STAR 98.7 donated $50,000 to the VH1 Save The Music Foundation to restore the music program at Valley Alternative Magnet School in Van Nuys, CA. STAR 98.7 raised the funds from proceeds of the sale of their 10th annual Star Lounge CD, a compilation CD of live performances from their world famous Star Lounge Guitar Center Studio. The donation is part of VH1 Save The Music Foundationís efforts to restore 4 million dollars worth of instrumental music programs nationwide throughout this year. In addition to the dedication ceremony, the assembly included a live acoustic performance by STAR 98.7 artists, Plain White T's, a pop/rock band that was formed in high school in their native Chicago. Plain White Tís current album, Every Second Counts is available in stores now.

FEBRUARY 13, 2007

"Music and Lyrics" writer/director Marc Lawrence and actress Haley Bennett presented a $50,000 donation on behalf of Warner Bros. to the VH1 Save The Music Foundation on Tuesday, February 13th. The donation will be used to aid The Foundation’s work of restoring music education classes throughout New York City public schools during the 2006/2007 school year. In addition Adam Schlesinger, Composer, “Music and Lyrics” and Fountains of Wayne front-man donated sheet music to all VH1 Save The Music grant recipient schools nationwide on behalf of The ASCAP Foundation.

The check presentation was part of an in-classroom demonstration at the Anderson School in which Bennett and Lawrence spoke about their upcoming movie and what music education means to them both. 8th grade music students were also guided by Anderson School Music Teacher, Amy Vanderwall, in a “Music and Lyrics” lesson by learning the theme-song “Way Back into Love.” Students took part in this lesson on keyboards that were part of a $25,000 donation of instruments from the VH1 Save The Music Foundation in 2005.
