PERRY FARRELL'S SATELLITE PARTY BENEFIT FOR VH1 SAVE THE MUSIC
On Tuesday, October 2nd, over 350 guests packed the men's department of Bloomingdale's in San Francisco to see Perry Farrell's latest band, Satellite Party, up close. Bloomingdale's, John Varvatos, and Gen Art presented the evening to benefit VH1 Save the Music. There was a silent auction of collectors' edition photographs of John Varvatos' iconic rock and roll advertising campaign, and the unique rock and roll memorabilia on display are available for bidding at vh1auctions.com. Guests snapped up special edition John Varvatos neckties, and 100% of the proceeds will benefit the VH1 Save the Music Foundation. The foundation's goal is to sell 500 neckties at $98 each to raise $49,000.
Spin Magazine collaborated with Gen Art to present emerging San Francisco band, Magic Bullets, who opened with a soulful acoustic performance. Don't miss their feature in 7x7 Magazine this month. Then Perry Farrell's Satellite Party took the stage, opening with "Superhero," the theme song for television show "Entourage." Next came "Tahitian Moon" from Farrell's Porno for Pyros days, followed by songs from his new album with Satellite Party, "Ultra Payloaded." His raw energy was palpable from the stage as he launched into "Pets," another Porno for Pyros song, and the crowd went wild with his closing number, "Been Caught Stealing" by Jane's Addiction. Partygoers enjoyed beverages provided by Johnnie Walker, Tanqueray, Budweiser Select, and smartwater and delicious hors d'oeuvres by Living Room Events. The combination of music, fashion, and philanthropy added up to a memorable night for many.

Bloomingdales and John Varvatos present a performance by multi-platinum artist Vanessa Carlton with songs from her upcoming album, Heroes & Thieves
Grammy nominated singer/songwriter Vanessa Carlton performed at Bloomingdale's 59th Street on September 19th in support of VH1 Save The Music Foundation. Bloomingdale's and celebrated menswear designer John Varvatos have teamed up to raise funds and awareness for the VH1 Save The Music Foundation through a series of events that kicked off at Bloomingdale's 59th Street. All proceeds from the silent auction, as well as the sales of a limited edition John Varvatos ‹‹ USA tie designed exclusively for Bloomingdale's, will benefit VH1 Save The Music Foundation.
Vanessa Carlton burst on to the music scene in 2002 with her album Be Not Nobody, unleashing the piano-tinged smash single "A Thousand Miles," which reached the Top 5 of the Billboard Hot 100 Singles chart, garnering prestigious Grammy nominations for both Song Of The Year and Record Of The Year, followed by the hit "Ordinary Day." Carlton followed up her platinum-plus debut album with 2004's acclaimed Harmonium. Vanessa's much anticipated third studio album, Heroes and Thieves, will be released on October 9th through Irving "Gotti" Lorenzo's The Inc. Records, a division of Universal Motown Records. The singer's entry into The Inc. fold demonstrates how Gotti and The Inc. continue to breakdown musical barriers. The album, written by Carlton in her New York City Nolita neighborhood and recorded in San Francisco and Los Angeles, was produced by Third Eye Blind front man, Stephan Jenkins, singer/songwriter Linda Perry and Carlton, and was executive produced by Gotti.
