THE VH1 SAVE TTHE MUSIC FOUNDATION AND RUSH PHILANTHROPIC ARTS FOUNDATION TEAM WITH PAYPAL MOBILE FOR "HAMPTONS CARES" CHARITY EVENT

Donating money to your favorite charity is as simple as sending a text message on your phone

Washington, D.C. (July 24, 2006) - The VH1 Save The Music Foundation and the RUSH Philanthropic Arts Foundation are teaming with PayPal to create "Hamptons Cares,", a special charity initiative that allows consumers to donate to these charities from their cellular phones.

PayPal's new text message-based service, "Text to Give" enables people to donate to participating charitable organizations from their mobile devices. Individuals with registered PayPal accounts can use their cell phones to make direct donations to Hamptons Cares, and the funds raised will be split evenly between the RUSH Philanthropic Arts Foundation and the VH1 Save the Music Foundation. PayPal Mobile will match donations up to $25,000.

Both foundations are hosting major charity fundraisers this weekend in East Hampton, New York. The VH1 Save The Music Foundation, in partnership with Westin Rinehart and Crest Whitestrips, will host its 4th Annual Hamptons Benefit Concert July 28th. The RUSH Foundation will host its event July 29th.

Foundation board member Morris L. Reid and his wife, Jaci -- who are also founders of the Washington, D.C. public affairs firm Westin Rinehart -- will host the VH1 Save The Music benefit at their home. The fundraiser will feature a performance from Grammy Award winning artist Ciara, and is expected to raise more than $300,000. PayPal Mobile is sponsoring the post-event dinner in honor of the artist at the Reid's home.

The RUSH Philanthropic Arts Foundation Art for Life Benefit will take place the following night at the home of founder and hip hop mogul Russell Simmons. The seventh annual event raises money to benefit youth art programs in New York City. Last year the event raised over $1 million.

Other charities that PayPal Mobile has enabled its users to Text to Give are Amnesty International, Starlight Starbright and UNICEF.

"With the overwhelming popularity of mobile phones, the time has never been better for the merging of ecommerce and wireless devices," said Kevin Dulsky, senior director and general manager of PayPal Mobile. "We are pleased to make it easier for our customers to donate to their favorite charities using their mobile phones."

For consumers to activate their phones visit https://www.paypal.com/mobile. Once their phones have been activated, they can simply text "HC" to "78787" to make a contribution to "Hamptons Cares.".
