WITH HELP OF TIME WARNER CABLE, THE SAN DIEGO CONVENTION & VISITORS BUREAU, SALLY’S AND THE MANCHESTER GRAND HYATT SAN DIEGO, THE VH1 SAVE THE MUSIC FOUNDATION GEARS UP FOR 10th ANNIVERSARY WITH $50,000 DONATION TO THE SAN DIEGO UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT
Donation Part of The Foundation’s 10th Anniversary Goal to Ensure 1 Million Public School Students Receive The Benefits of Music Education
SAN DIEGO, CA, May 17, 2007 - The VH1 Save The Music Foundation and Time Warner Cable, with the help of the San Diego Convention & Visitors Bureau, Sally’s and the Manchester Grand Hyatt San Diego are gearing up for the Foundation’s 10th Anniversary by providing $50,000 worth of new musical instruments to restore two public school music education programs in the San Diego Unified School District for the 2006/2007 school year. The donation is part of The Foundation’s efforts to restore 4 million dollars worth of instrumental music programs nationwide throughout this year. In addition, it will bring VH1 Save The Music closer to achieving its 10th Anniversary goal of reaching 1 million students and advance its ongoing mission of ensuring that all children have access to the benefits of music education.
Throughout the year, The Foundation will continue to work with Time Warner Cable to guarantee that all students in the San Diego Unified School District receive music education as part of their core curriculum. Since 2002 Time Warner Cable and VH1 Save The Music have provided $175,000 worth of new musical instruments to restore music programs in 7 San Diego area public schools. In addition, an event will be held at the O’Farrell Community School on May 17 for grant recipient students, school officials and community members to celebrate the positive impact music has on their students.

Since the VH1 Save The Music Foundation was created in 1997, $34 million worth of new musical instruments have been donated to 1,400 public schools in 80 cities, improving the lives of more than 800,000 children.
