Here are answers to some of the most common questions we receive.
| How does the VH1 Save The Music restore music programs? | |
| Programs
are restored through the implementation of a new beginning instrumental
music program, incorporated as part of the regular curriculum of the
school. The program may be a band, string, guitar, or keyboard lab
program. Program restoration is the primary focus of the Foundation. |
|
| How do you decide which schools or districts in a city will be chosen for the VH1 Save The Music program? | |
| We
work closely with local school boards, our affiliates, and
our other partners when deciding which school(s) and/or districts
the VH1 Save The Music program would best benefit with need
being the primary factor. |
|
| What are the benefits of music education to my child? | |
| There is a wide body of research
that highlights the benefits of music instruction. |
|
| As a parent, how can I get more involved in getting music into my childs school? | |
Here
is a list of things you can do to support music education
in your community:
|
|
| How can I donate time/money/an instrument? | |
|
|
| Are there other ways to help and/or volunteer with VH1 Save The Music besides monetary donations or donation of instruments? How else can I help? | |
| Currently, VH1 Save The Music does not have the resources to organize volunteers in individual communities. We do recognize that your assistance is paramount to the success of this cause, however, so we encourage you to reach out to your local school district, join the PTA, or you may reach out to our partners at MENC and get involved in their MusicFriends Network at www.musicfriends.org.

| I want to organize a fund raiser in my area, and will donate the money to VH1 Save The Music. My program is also benefiting children and music just like yours! How can I have VH1STM sponsor/fund my organization? | |
| As
of yet, we are not sponsoring any groups or organizations. VH1 Save
The Music is focusing our efforts to rebuild public school music instruction
in schools where it has been eliminated. VH1 Save The Music does not
provide cash grants to any organization. We are instead focusing our
efforts on the distribution of instruments to public schools across
the country. If you would like, you are more than welcome to send
us some informational kits or pamphlets about your group. |
|
| Can a local nonprofit organization manage the implementation of the campaign? | |
| No.
VH1 Save The Music is managed in partnership with affiliates
and advocates in local communities and by the VH1 Save The
Music Foundation. Local non-profits may join in local efforts
as a supporter. They may not however, manage and organize
the campaign. Implementation of the VH1 Save The Music campaign
is directed by the VH1 Save The Music Foundation. |
|
| We have a program but many students cannot afford to rent instruments. Does the VH1 Save The Music program provide scholarships for rental instruments? | |
| No. The Foundation is focused on rebuilding programs that have been eliminated over time, or helping programs that are at imminent risk of being eliminated. While this is an important issue, many local arts organizations provide scholarships for instruments or even instrument donations for the situation described above. We are focused solely on rebuilding public school music programs. |
