DoSomething.org has been the premiere national award for community service, honoring the nation's best, young world-changers, 25 and under since 1996. And this year they're teaming up with VH1 for their biggest celebration yet of these globally-minded movers and shakers!
I mean, who says you can't smile while changing the world? We're not going to stop you. In fact, we make it nearly impossible not to by having the cast of Fox's hit comedy New Girl host the show this year. That's right, Zooey Deschanel's on-screen partners in crime Jake Johnson, Max Greenfield and Lamorne Morris will follow in the footsteps of last year's fantastically funny emcee Jane Lynch by leading the high energy show. So be prepared to crack up as the trio hands out honors to celebrities like David Beckham, Justin Bieber, Will Ferrell and others, who all received trophies last year for their good works. And let's not forget that on this night full of hilarious hosts, huge celebrities and hot music performances, one well-deserving "do-er" will receive a grand prize of $100,000 for his or her cause.
The 2012 Do Something Awards will presented at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica and will tape Sunday, August 19th and premiere Tuesday, August 21st, 2012 at 9/8c on VH1 where the winners will be announced. This year's VH1 Do Something Awards are executive produced by Michael Dempsey for Dempsey Productions and Lee Rolontz for VH1. Nancy Lublin and Naomi Hirabayashi oversee the awards show for DoSomething.org.
