Dear Friends,

On behalf of the City of New York, I invite you to join us for the first-ever "VH1 Hip Hop Honors Week" in New York City. This weeklong celebration leading up to the 3rd Annual VH1 Hip Hop Honors begins on Thursday, October 12, 2006 and features the very best that our City and hip-hop music have to offer. We hope that everyone will take advantage of the myriad of opportunities, special hip-hop music events and promotions created for all New Yorkers and visitors to enjoy.
We are proud that VH1 Hip Hop Honors will take place in the Big Apple, and it is with great enthusiasm that we join VH1 to pay tribute to some of hip hop's original pioneers. The contributions and influence of the event's honorees will be celebrated on the streets of New York City, the birthplace of hip hop. The Daily News has created this official guide to capture the excitement of "VH1 Hip Hop Honors Week" that will take place at restaurants, retailers, museums, parks, musical venues and night clubs throughout the five boroughs. Don't forget to tune into VH1 on Tuesday, October 17th at 9pm to watch the tribute show hosted by Ice-T.
Congratulations to everyone involved in making this event possible. New York City looks forward to welcoming all hip-hop fans to our great City for this celebration.

Sincerely,
Michael R. Bloomberg
