Full Episode Summary

As the Pointer Sisters once said..."I'm so excited and we just can't hide it". Well 1982 is JUST as excited and we're also about to lose control and we know WE like it! Enjoy break out hits like Laura Branigan's "Gloria", Steve Miller Band's "Abracadabra" as well as the incredible energy of Musical Youth's "Pass the Dutchie". How about the MEN down under who love a good vegemite sandwich, Men At Work and the MAN who completely rocked 1982, Mr. John Cougar!

82 was the year of men in loin clothes. From the sexy Arnold Schwarzenegger in Conan The Barbarian to the handsome Marc Singer in Beastmaster. Marc just couldn't seem to keep his ferret in his pants. These men sure knew how to pack a punch! Isn't Conan running for Governor these days? But lets not forget about the men in drag...like Dustin Hoffman in the hit film Tootsie. A top draw at the box office that year. I guess Dustin never looked so good?

1982 also brought us some of the decade's greatest movie sequels, including the head to head galactic battle between William Shatner and Fantasy Island's own Ricardo Montalban in Star Trek II: The Wrath Of Khan as well as the film that launched Mel Gibson into the stratosphere, Mad Max II: The Road Warrior.

How about the films that stole our hearts like Richard Gere and Debra Winger's Oscar award winning Officer and A Gentlemen as well as Albert Finney, Aileen Quinn and Carol Burnett's music classic Annie. Daddy Warbucks finally found his gal. We also laughed out loud at comedic geniuses Jackie Gleason and Richard Pryor in one of the most hilarious and remembered films of the year, The Toy. Did we forget to mention that the little boy featured in the film, Master Bates AKA Scott Schwartz, went on to be a porn star? For Pink Floyd's The Wall, truly a one-of-a-kind, bizarre fantasy rock opera classic of the 80's that everyone still seems very confused about. Will anyone be able to shave again or eat hamburgers after this one?

Turning to the small screen, 82 brought us some of the best prime time cat fights between the evil Alexis Colby (Joan Collins) and the sweet Crystal Carrington (Linda Evans) in the ratings phenomenon Dynasty, making the night time soap an integral part of 80's pop culture. Ever hear the word bitch used on network television? America's newest sweetheart, Heather Locklear kept the city streets safe in TJ Hooker while overseas it was a fleet of American soldiers fighting for freedom where ever there was trouble, GI JOE was there, GI Joe, a Real American Hero! For all those aspiring actors and dancers, searching for a little Fame, they could tune in every week and learn a few moves from the head of class, Debbie Allen on the hit series Fame . Ever turn your lunchroom into a rock concert? Entertainment Tonight made TV history in 1982 by removing the front of it's news desk so that America could see Mary Hart's sexy long legs. The show quickly became one of the most popular shows in TV syndication history. Did we forget to mention, it wasn't only her legs making headlines, her voice was causing seizures, what????

And when we wanted to cheer, we turned to hockey legend Wayne Gretzky, as he shattered several NHL single season records on the ice including 50 goals in 39 games, 92 goals for the season as well as a record breaking 120 assists. Pretty impressive for a player only in his 3rd professional season. Oh, did we forget to mention, Gretzky was named Sportsman of the Year?

But let's not forget about the game that changed the lives of kids across the country that year, Colecovision. With real arcade like graphics, kids never had to leave their homes as Coleco overpowered it's rival Atari for the top spot in the video game world. Love that Burger Time!

Come take a walk in your KangaROOS...this is 1982!
