INTERVIEW
Currently in the studio with ex-Foo Fighter Pat Smear, L.A.'s Harlow brings sass and snarl to
Bands on the Run. An all-girl outfit that invites comparisons to the Cure and the Stooges, Harlow decided their main goal, according to singer Amanda Rootes, was to "not get kicked off the show." Hard partying and nocturnal habits have landed the ladies "vampire" nicknames by those competitors who were up and about at 9 a.m. It was all in good fun, though. "We have our run-ins," says the blond Brit, "but our band gets along with everybody … It’s like a big party."
The
Bands on the Run experience is really helping the group grow together, says the singer, though each Harlette has her moment of craziness. Rootes is waiting to see how she and her pals actually come across on the series. "What if they edit it to show us being drunk, terrible, and falling over?" Or, she adds, producers could stress the band's bad '80s metal and Pat Benatar impressions. "It's terrifying, really."
