On the way north, Soulcracker and Harlow quickly became enemies. It started at a rest stop, where Harlow's drummer, Rebecca, made fun of Soulcracker drummer Bob's diet. He responded by decorating the Harlow van with salami and cheese. "They can't put salami on our f*cking windshield and get away with it," seethed Harlow's leader, Amanda. "It's on," agreed their bassist Chimene. "War is on."
Although all three bands arrived in San Francisco well after 11 pm, two spent their remaining hours awake promoting. Flickerstick headed to the Paradise Lounge to find drinks and fans, while Soulcracker began stickering the area. Flickerstick's night ended in disarray when band wildman Dominicinvited a bartender back to the van . Guitarist Cory disapproved: "He doesn't care about anyone except his penis."
