ANTHRAX'S I'm THE MAN started this NU METAL stuff it is so self evident + the BEASTIE BOYS but that is so obvious WOW they are going there!
NU Metal is the stuff I grew up with and still love to this very day
as a huge fan of rock and heavy metal i love nu metal. sure it may not be "metal" but it was good and original music. no the bands are not as musically talented as Pantera, Slayer, Metallica, or Machine Head but its good creative music that has alot of heart.its a great member of the rock n roll family tree
disturbed is the best nu metal band :)

It's one guy's opinion! He's awesome and likes a lot of great music! I'd hang out with him. We'd agree on a lot of bands and disagree on some. I liked this episode but I also like some of these bands. Hell I saw Blue Oyster Cult and Rush the same year I saw Lady Gaga and Taylor Swift. I'd love to talk to him about the Darkness. Are they helping or hurting Metal? Are they legit or not? (I love them!) At least this Headbanger's Journey doesn't just follow just one path and I have much respect for that.
This episode should have been called "Metal Devolution". Nu-Metal is definitely not metal.
Nu Metal= CRAP plain and simple, I do love the Public Enemy Anthrax Bring the Noise however cuz that's when it seemed more organic like Scott said and actually sounded good
The Deftones' incredible rhythm section was far more important in giving their music a hip-hop feel than the turntables. 000aThe styling that a lot of these bands had was also pretty important. It was briefly mentioned but they could have said more...baggy shorts, dread locs, adidas, khakis, Ben Davis and Dickies workwear type of stuff...all of this gave them a hip hop/"gangsta" kind of appeal.
nu metal to me is the best metal, at least to me, its real and much more personal. But linkin park and limp bizkit are a disgrace. why the hell did they not mention slipknot? LONG LIVE SLIPKNOT!!

Okay, am I the only one that was appauled that KORN was credited w/having started that sound, when it was TOOL that lowered their guitars and basses several octaves . TOOL powered the Nu Metal movement. Why were they not even mentioned?
