Her comment makes me think of the "black ass" comment that Tami made to Meeka on BBW. These women are from NY and they even acknowledge the issues with light/dark skin and good/bad hair. This mess is still perpetuated in our society today, which is why so many sisters are weaved and wigged up. It is not just "fashion" there is a level of self hate. I am glad that many are going natural. I wonder if she wasn't MJ would Kendu be with her. He really isn't cute. Glad that Mary found love but she is really the prize, I hope she knows that.
