it does not matter how much time has lapsed, nor which rapper has garnered the most accolades. illmatic is the BEST rap album of all time. his brother said it best,"we'd close our eyes and listen to him while he rapped; his lyrics were that vivid". nas's lyrics make you stop, get into a metacognitive mode, then rewind what you just heard. his use of figurative language is crazy. rap music is based on lyrics over a beat, not a beat over lyrics. kids today are being punk'd!
