I want to see a episode,but i can't connect
his ex wife tully needs to kill her self - she is a straight up creep show ... like damn ol girl - you're like 50... and his mom is an absolute *****... she looks like she has down syndrome, get that douche bag a helmet.
Brooke, I think Antonio completely understood what you were saying, but is not ready to live up to what he claimed to be his original goal – finding true love. He was a farce! You were not. Sorry!
Follow to Prior Posts: I rec'd a B- for my review of this show because I failed to give an opinion about the implicit goals of the hosts/stars and the attached social implications. I obviously can only guess at the goals of reality TV stars – Income and Exposure are my best answers. Antonio Sabato, Jr. is an actor and model, so his livelihood depends on visibility that he and his sponsors hope translates into record viewer numbers and product sales. From my research, Antonio does not appear to have what the entertainment industry labels an 'A-list' celebrity status: A short acting stint on General Hospital daytime soap (nearly two decades ago); model for Calvin Klein underwear (also before my time); a couple of nowhere movies (that I bet he wishes would go away unless he wants to be type cast as a gay guy); a few guest appearances here and there; and an acrobatic winner of a celebrity 'circus' competition. So my guess is that MY ANTONIO was Mr. Sabato's attempt to trigger professional exposure much more than a "search for love." The same can be said for the women cast in the show most of whom were, are, or have aspirations to be, in the public eye in one way or another! So, I don't believe that there is much "reality" here in terms of looking for true love. But then I asked my Mom to watch the show for her opinion. She mostly laughed at all the drama, but did comment that it was sad to notice some of the women lose sight of the fact that this was a TV show concocted to jump start an actor's fading career. It looked to my Mom that some of the women were really letting themselves get emotionally involved with a man who really didn't have that much to offer them in return! She said, "Yeah, Antonio's good looking, but not spectacular! Maybe these women behaved the way they did because of cabin-fever, the result of being held hostage in a hotel suite ... or maybe it's just a matter of ego and wanting to win the competition ... or maybe they simply liked being in Hawaii ... or maybe the producers were picky enough to find a group of women without any sense of self-respect. Just remember, young man, no strong, intelligent woman allows a man to control and humiliate her like some of these women did during the show. And no man, no matter what, has that right to even try. Simply put: This TV show is NOT REAL. I am surprised that ladies find this show entertaining at all! It is insulting." Like Yvonne in MY ANOTNIO, my mom said it best!
sorry but miranda was way too high class for antonio. she thought she was tha ****! remember when antonio suprised all tha girls with nail stuff and miranda was like you forgot somthing.... like it was not good enough for her. too high maintenance for him. brooke was too professional for him she had goals for her future.
My Assignment Conclusion Inspite of all this, Tully and Miranda were the most entertaining characters on the show. I only hope, for their sakes, that they knew they were there for entertainment value, ratings and fill. In other words, I hope they weren't really emotionally invested because as Miranda said, "The show must go on," and the show needed a few losers to have one winner! 4) List the social value of this reality TV program. Answer: Advertisements. 5) Do you see any negative consequences? Answer: Depends on how many people really take this seriously. I hate the thought that finding a supportive, loving relationship is somehow diminished to a "competition" where surface appearance and fake behaviors become models. I hate the chance that social parameters dictate that women need to act or look a certain way to be appealing. In the long run, I guess there's no harm as long as people recognize it's all entertainment ... and as long as the participants leave the program without real or perceived loss or hurt.
I'm a 20 year old, male student with a very odd assignment from my sociology prof ... watch a reality TV show from beginning to end ... answer questions ... and post your responses!! I chose MY ANTONIO because it was the only show on VH1 that I could watch all of the episodes in one day. I read the blog exit interviews with Brook, Miranda, Tully, Tania, Jennifer and Autumn. I've also reviewed a lot of the other viewers' comments. Sooo, here are the answers to my assignment questions: 1) Do you think the interactions were "real" or "scripted for entertainment value? Answer: Both. It looked to me like the emotions were truly felt, not scripted. Yet, editing can create the spin producers want us to see. Therefore, viewers might not get the whole picture. 2) What about this program yields public appeal? Answer: It must be that women (more than men) enjoy watching beautiful, privileged people in exotic places trying to fall in love while competing with each other. Maybe the biggest appeal is that while concentrating on others' frustrations, we forget our own for a short while. 3) What social/personality inconsistencies were outstanding? Answer: The social inconsistency is the assumption that all of these women for varying, odd reasons knew that Antonio was their choice, while Antonio was in the position of choosing from a sort of 'shopping cart' of pre-dedicated lovers! Simply doesn't happen in real life. Outside of a vacation on Kona Island, I don't think most women would subject themselves to such a humiliating position. On the personal level, for the most part, it looked to me like all the cast members behaved in ways consistent with who they said they were and why they were there. With the exception of two 'contestants', I saw a group of really pretty, honest, and intelligent women trying to convince Antonio. In my opinion, the two cast members with blaring inconsistencies were Tully and Miranda. TULLY kept repeating her 18-year long, yearning love for Antonio. If those feelings were sincere, she would not have waited for a reality TV series to express them. Plus, Tully's continued claims to know what and who was best for Antonio after having a 5-month relationship 18 years ago with no contact in between is laughable. This is particularly funny to me since I'm now Antonio's age when he married the "older" woman! I cannot accept the truth that someone in my life now (no matter how serious the relationship) will have the ability to designate who's right and wrong for me when I'm 36! How stupid is that! The mothers of Antonio's children have spent at least twice the time with him more recently! Then she criticized other women for drinking too much, but who was it that was stealing left-over glasses of wine from the dinner table and then interrupting a group conversation to ask for more? Tully's behaviors on this show were rude, self-centered, immature and inappropriate, especially for a woman of her age! (Oh my gosh, if I caught my 15-year-old sister sucking on her boyfriend's hand in public, I'd kick her to the moon and back!) MIRANDA also showed so many inconsistencies it's hard to remember them all. Miranda was two-faced. First, she looked like two different people ... one with make up and one without. Then, she claimed to have been an actress and make-up artist for 10 years, yet she'd never seen herself on a big screen and her make up was a constant, horrible mess! She reported two degrees in fashion, but her hair styles and black outfits were from – well, I'm not sure how long ago – and her forward-leg stance did not help in the least! Then Miranda lied outright saying she "could be ready in 8 minutes," and it took her only "5 minutes to apply make-up." (Calculates into a slew of customers every day!) She said "leaving Manhattan was absolutely huge" for her, yet she was ready to move to Los Angeles in a NY minute and "be very happy there". The quiet, baby-talking "I'm peaceful," and "I wanna be your girl" character turned into the "F... You! I'm having an emotional melt-down" disaster the next moment. Real stability there! The funniest part of watching/reading Miranda is that in her exit interview she states that within hours of being willing to marry and move for Antonio, her 'universe' was turned back on track because her friend's dog died while she was in Hawaii! WOW! Off screen, Miranda was witty, but sarcastic, critical and downright mean. Maybe it's just me, but when someone refers to other people as "clutter", I get that person's real portrait very quickly.
i like your explaination but i liked miranda more
you must be close to her
I think that brooke is so fake i actually thought that miranda was going to win because brooke is like a life size barbie with no curves and a dream car :( miranda=5 star chick brooke=1 star chick
I caught on with how they edit these reality shows. They completely play up the person that is NOT going to get picked in the final episode. They completely made it look like Miranda and Antonio were really into each other; meanwhile, making Brooke looked like a control freak at the end and backing Antonio to the wall. I noticed this with all the VH1 shows and some others. I think Miranda is an outspoken and secure woman. Some men are threatened by that. I hope she finds someone that will make her happy. Brooke played the game very well. I liked her in the beginning, but the last few episodes she really was laying it on thick and extremely fake. I'm sure anyone would be bubbly and happy in a tropical paradise. I wonder though, if she continues that at home with the stresses of the "real world"? Thats why its difficult to rate these women on basically a vacation. Maybe they should have a reality show where its set in a city and these people still have to go about their everyday lives and try to make a relationship work....nevermind...I guess that wouldnt be very entertaining!! Did anyone else notice the shameless plug for Calvin Klein underwear (ep 9) when Antonio was getting dressed for the "wedding ceremonies"?? I thought that was hilarious!!
IM NOT HAPPY WITH ANTONIOS CHOICE I TTHINK THAT HE CHOSE THE WRONG WOMEN AND HE WILL END UP BY HIMSELF AND SADLY DISSAPOINTED ONCE AGAIN!
broke was not the one...he ended up breaking with her...she admitted in her exit interview....she was there for exposure...the bad thing is that....they all knew that tully was the one and they said it themselves...they was so much love there....
I am so happy that Antonio picked Brooke!
well, am so happy Brooke won the show. antonio made his choice from what he saw in the gals. i mean he lived with this gals, saw their flaws, and knew who he could be with . so if you are not happy with that, then search for a desert and go live in it. if u think the show was lame, then why did u not quit watching. but u kep watching 40 minutes of the show and 20 minutes of commercials weekly. LMAO. i loved autum the NASA gal, lol. and i really hated Christi. GO ANTONIO. haters..................... LMAOOOOOOO.
WOW..as relationship status, he's probably going to be lonely unless he opens his eyes.He fell for some fake perfect apple pie farm girl instead of someone was a real up to date open loving woman. I can see him and Brooke going at it all the time and thats probably why they broke up...W/E Miranada was too beatiful inside and out, and derserve's someone with better qualityies.
Lol, hypocrite...your telling us not to care so why do you care about other peoples' comments...like YOU said ..go focus on your own problems...man your the stupid one....FOOL
Ok, I understand where your coming from because I can believe that Tully loved him the most. The problem was that Antonio didn't have any love for her because of their past etc...so if he did go out with her it would only be because of pity. Although I was hoping they got together lol but since Tully left I was hoping Miranda to win...stupid Brooke....she's not great at all...
He said it ight to Miranda. She's a total original. So by choosing Brooke, he preferred someone fake than someone original. Good luck with that contract!
Antonio is not serious like brooke is about their future relationship
