That's an urban myth. There are two John Hansons: A white man who was elected President of the Continental Congress (who some consider the first president of the U.S, even though that wasn't his exact title) and a black man associated with the American Colonization Society, who sought to relocate black Americans in Liberia. The black one has been confused with the white one, causing people to believe that the white one was really black and president of the United States. The black one wasn't even born until after the white one died.

Not all black people was slaves. Some black people that was slaves did have the opportunity to come out of slavery. Even current HIS Story tells that Good Ole' George was afraid and hesitant to take the role of President. While George was stalling WHO do you think was running the Newly Formed Country? George Washington even voted for John Hanson cause he was scared to do the job of First President.

Antoinette is a wonderful addition to the story line. Please follow-up on her first date. That was a great new family segment. WONDERFUL.

Major is the cutest . But all of the Harris children are an asset to VH1 viewers. I love this family and we should see more of Antoinette in episodes. Like her brother, she has a great sense of humor. On the other hand, rein in on the hair stylist. Tiny must be able to hire a better quality person with character. This person really exploits the old stereotypes about black women - ugly, loud, angry, ignorant, backward, uneducated. How long must we endure this foolishness?

See, this is why African American History needs to be taught in every school and not just only in February. American History tends to leave out the most valuable information about black history. John Hanson was the first American President. He is also pictured on the back of a $2 bill during the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776.
