This shows motto "All things hard rock and heavy metal" is definately a contradiction. Because if that were true then they would be more diverse and feature death, black, doom, etc. stuff once in a while. I know they blame VH1 for having the policy of only classic stuff but I think Eddie Trunk has more direction an say in what goes on than he lets on.
5) BMFV 4) Hatebreed 3) KSE 2) FFDP 1) Trvium
It makes me so happy knowing that Joey Belladonna is back in Anthrax and that their new album is so good \m/

No disrespect to Charlie and Scott, but from what I gathered from this and past interviews, behind the music, etc, I think they just took Joey back only cuz John Bush wasn't available. They've made it perfectly clear they always preferred John Bush over Joey, who always sang great and was a good enough frontman anyway. The guy (Joey) even cleaned up his act quickly when his job was threatened and he was still cut. Not just saying this cuz I dont like the John Bush material, but its kinda messed.
New bands: 5) Killswitch Engage 4) Trivium 3) Halestorm 2) Bullet For My Valentine 1) Trust Company.
What a crap list. Here is what it should have been 1) Shinedown 2) The Mars Volta 3) System of a Down 4) wahtever u want 5) whatever Eddie wants
PS - Slipknot is Nu Metal and Hatebreed is Metalcore, neither are remotely Death Metal. To say if the network doesn't play it, they can't feature it, is bs too, because at any given time of the day, I'll never see a Slayer or Anthrax video on VH1. The only reason the show lasted 8 seasons is because there's nothing else for Metal on TV.. the same way the Glam *** Bangers Ball lasted so long on MTV, real Metalheads had to sit through 2+ hours of LA *** Metal to see 1 Kreator video. =/
I can understand the reasons not having Death Metal on the show, due to corporate policy, but in all fairness, to say it's not classic Metal is absurd, Eddie might not dig it and that's cool. but Possessed 7 Churches (featuring Larry LaLond of Primus fame on guitar) came out in 1985. By the standard, 25 years makes a classic, no? Joe Satriani even produced Possessed's last release. Bands like Morbid Angel were commercial enough to have 1 of their songs used on Beavis & Butthead in the early 90s and were on Warner Bros for a quick min. The worst offense though, when you mention "best metal drummers of all time" and there's no mention of guys like Flo Mounier or Pete Sandoval, who clearly pushed the envelope of Metal drumming to new extremes beyond what Lombardo did. All due respect to Dave. But come on. oh and Buckcherry aint Metal.
New rock bands. 1. Rev Theory, 2. Pop Evil, 3. Black Stone Cherry, 4. Shinedown, 5. Hinder. Great new bands less than 10 yrs old. Here are more Noise Auction, Drop D., Beyond the Fade. 21CG.
Love Vinnie Moore. Saw him in Boulder Colorado back in '99, been listenin' since 1987.
Their ideas of what death metal is...is kinda pathetic. "If they don't show the videos, we can't have them on..." OK, but what about the classic metal bands of yesteryear that still pump out good tunes today? Saint Vitus, Hawkwind, Trouble, MELVINS, anything...? Candlemass is putting out some of the best material of their career, Bewitched got lots of airplay; this can be said for so many bands that haven't been on. When will we get bands that Ed's narrow, nostalgia-filled mind doesn't recall?!
Danko Jones?! Seriously? I just went and checked out several songs and every song sounds almost identical. EMO bands probably rock harder than Danko Jones.
