Michael Schenker steps out from behind the guitar to take a seat on the TMS set with Ed, Don and Jim. Plus: Pearl Jam's Mike McCready stops by!
these meatheads...AIC, SOundgarden and PJ are heavier than the lame glam scene that these hosts worship. Great White!!!! yeah right, Eddie Trunk.
Nobody mentioned 'Force It"? Every song on that LP was hard rocking and kicking ass back to back. Of course 'Strangers in the night" was the iconic release, but technically that was the best of UFO (live). I however never considered them to be Heavy Metal. they were hard rock and I give Micheal credit for giving Scorpions their jump start and should be credited for helping the Scorpions when Ulrich Roth left and filling in till they got M. Jabbs, during the Lovedrive recordings.
John 5? With a name like that he got his butt kicked a lot in school BWA HAW HAH HA!000a
Does anybody remember when the Alman brothers were called HEAVY METAL, other than myself?
no no no no METALICA saved Heavy METAL grunge belittled and demeaned METAL and was so pop in it's commie crap.
Who or what is buckethead? Did they/it once be in HELMET?
that being said Wolfmother is 70's Hard rock done right.
Yes Grunge sucks but what part of hard rock do you not get ? Grunge is whinny lyrics to 70's hard rock.
Except Kerry King did play in Megadeth way way back in the day.000a000ahttp://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=I37P1uH0PUY000a000aWhether McCready accidentally stumbled into a correct answer, or really knew that bit of trivia, I don't know. Probably the former.
Sam, I respectfully disagree.
Sam,000aI respectfully disagree with you. I have been an ardent fan of UFO and Michael Schenker most of my adult life. Although, they never had the commercial success of their counterparts, They are emphatically, categorically, and unequivocally rock legends. Please take a closer listen and maybe you will understand.
R.I.P. Ronnie, you will be missed. That first album with Sammy Hagar is one of my favorite ROCK albums!!!!
I laughed my ass off watching this Top 5. I agree, Lonesome Crow should not be in there...but oh well.000a

Top 5 Michael Schenker Albums000a1: Strangers in the Night - UFO000a2: Force It - UFO000a3: phenomenon000a4: No Heavy Petting - UFO000a5: MSG (debut)000aSchenker has influenced 4 generations of guitarists. A interesting thing happened when Judas priest Debut'd at The Whisky - a-go go in Los Angeles "79". I met Michael Schenker in the audience. Good times !
Frank Hannon rocks! Anybody who plays guitar knows this. I watch every week and to me he along with John 5 are in the top 3 guest players.
I wouldn't say they saved the metal scene, but pretty much took it into another direction. Grunge opened the eyes of alot of metal fans and they discoverd great alternative bands like Tool, White Zombie, and Korn. If there was a metal band in the nineties that saved this genere it would be Pantera. Unfortunately there are alot of nu metal bands that try to imitate their sound and do a pretty crappy job of it
Yeah no doubt, I was so embarassed for Mike when he said that. If it isn't bad enough that grunge music almost destroyed the metal community and then for him to come onto a "metal" show and mix up the "big four" made the barrier between alternative rock and metal even bigger.
Michael Schenker again? Not that I dislike the dude, but I think we got about enough of him already in the last 2 episodes and I much rather hear him play than hear him talk :)000aHe must have a good press agent though...
