This week on The OCD Project, Dr. Tolin brings in the patients' families to help intensify their exposures!
This is really very dangerous and irresponsible pushing Kristen this way. Since her illness resulted from her abuse as a child, going over the edge could unleash memories from that time that she's not ready to face and could traumatize her permanently. I'm not a psychologist, but even I could tell you that to confront the symptoms without first dealing with the root cause--in all these patients--is completely backwards and could be emotionally disastrous.
CBT and ERT are two separate things. CBT is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. That is taking a thought and reforming how you think of that thought using facts, analysis and proof for and against your thoughts. ERT is exposure response therapy. Now...with that a legit doctor would not put anyone in harms way. Meaning toilet thing would be a non used brand new toilet but not known to the patient before hand. NOT a used pissy toilet from a scone place. I think he should lose his license for this fiasco. If any doctor did this he'd be put in prison and lose his license and be held liable for malpractice because he put someone in real jeopardy.
woot! Kevin could have Aspergers. that probably wouldn't be a surprise cus lots of times ocds is a disorder that attaches to Aspergers. yay for being on the spectrum Kevin!
are you freaking kidding me??? what kind of professionals do they have running this joke? I can understand 'exposure' but rubbing your food INSIDE a toilet and eating it....... cmon that's ridiculous and makes this show look like a joke!
hmmmm the picture just went crazy on me :/
Where the hell is episode 5 and 6?
i dont c any1 but kritin throwing a fit so i dont see how its ocd as all of them have it just as bad and worse than her, shes just a spoiled brat and needs a big ol **** in her mouth to shut her ass up. I personally volunteer
my ******* god, that **** is just dangerous, its so easy to get a disease by eating out the toilet, what were they thinking?????? ill have one serving of aids please
This is a completely ridiculous statement.
I'm pretty sure if she could just "man up" and get over it, she would have done that by now. How could you even assume it's that simple...
Have you even been watching? Her brother was the one who refused to pick her up when she wanted to go home. These are probably the worst moments in her life -- it's unfair to judge her by them.
WE GET IT! The wiring is off..It doesnt mean that we should let the world stop and revolve around people with the disorder. Just like the rest of us in society they need to step up and take control..Trust me I know what its like to develop that self control. I used to be addicted to meth for 5 years. So seriously I dont want to hear peoples excuses about being wired wrong. The same goes with these people as it does with addicts. Get rid of the enablers, the sympathizers, and allow these people to grow up and deal with themselves by showing them some true tough love reality.
Do you have OCD cobraman? :P
first of all, i really am sympathetic to her struggle, but i gotta say, kristen's voice annoys the hell out of me. it's got the most wavering whiny whimpering tone i've ever heard. my god, i want to punch her in the throat. secondly, i'm so sick of seeing all these dove go fresh commercials, i'm officially boycotting the product. can't they mix up the commercials a bit? and my last point: dr. tolbin is wicked hot.
go kristan this **** is had to deal with im young and have a serious problem with ocd it sucks i pace and organisz it sucks and my main support has left and im stuggling this show has given me the power to help me over come this **** called ocd
It's funny to hear all of the people without the OCD telling those with OCD on the show to "man up" and calling them wusses, and the only people who actually feel for the OCD patients are those with OCD themselves or those who know someone personally who's affected. It makes me think those who can't empathize have their own kind of "disorder".
There is nothing wrong with prayer Kevin. But worry won't help. Put your faith in Jesus and your eternity will be secure. That you can be sure of. Peace be with you.
I love you kevin, keep up working hard on our ocd. you will do it.
I have OCD almost identical to Kristen's, I would be pissed off too if they wanted me to take a 5 minute shower. I've never felt that she was a brat or out of line, if you've watched the show at all, you would know that that's just not her.
