All week we’ve been introducing you to cast members of The Gossip Game, our new series that follows the hard-working women covering New York City’s hip hop beat. Because the show is premiering this Monday, April 1st at 9pm ET/PT, it’s time that you got to know UK beauty, Sharon Carpenter.
Born and raised across the pond, Carpenter’s specialization is in broadcast journalism. Best known as an on-air anchor for BET, she’s also had gigs at UPN 9, WPIX, BBC and even did a stint of financial reporting for CBS. Now a host and reporter for Global Grind, Carpenter can focus on her love of hip hop and crank out stories and interviews in the entertainment sphere.

VH1 STAR WE’D LOVE TO SEE HER INTERVIEW: Dr. Drew
Far from an amateur journalist, Sharon has four New York Association of Black Journalists awards under her belt, as well as a Telly Award. She was in LA covering the death of Michael Jackson, and when Wyclef announced he’d run for president of Haiti in 2010, she snagged him for his first exclusive interview. Keep reading to watch her full interview.
Falling in love with hip hop as a result of her older brother’s DJing, Carpenter is now grateful to work with one of the Godfathers of hip hop, Russell Simmons. A self-proclaimed “triple threat” due to her smarts, work ethic, and good looks, the red carpet-savvy Brit fancies herself someone to fear in the hip hop gossip shark tank, and holds journalistic integrity above all else.
Tune in next Monday, April 1st at 9pm ET/PT to catch the premiere of The Gossip Game!
