Ray J Vs. Kanye

It was a good week for gossip, starting off with some entertaining music from Ray J. Now, we’ve experienced these fits of foolishness from Brandy’s brother before (remember indoor and outdoor pools?), but he outdid himself with this latest cry for attention. Ray J. dominated the blogs, twitter and every other www-dot-destination with his latest track “Hit It First.” The song, which Ray J won’t admit is about Kim Kardashian, takes obvious jabs at Kanye West, Kim K.’s current love interest and future baby daddy. The pixilated image used for the single’s cover art is all too close to a popular Kim K. photo coming out of the water at the beach. Ray J. and Kim K were an item a hundred years ago, that resulted in a sex tape, before Kim hooked up with Kanye. Unfortunately, there have been reports that Kanye allegedly responded with some sort of “I hit a hundred million first” comment, but that just doesn’t seem to have the same effect. Rumor has it that Ray J. was uncomfortably approached by some Chicago-bred goons but that has not been confirmed (obviously).

Trick Daddy Vs. Lil Wayne

Kanye and Ray J. weren’t the only two bickering recently. Lil Wayne and Trick Daddy supposedly got into something at Miami strip club King of Diamonds, early Thursday morning after someone in Trick Daddy’s crew tossed a lit cigarette to Wayne’s dreads (the new ultimate disrespect). The back and forth began not surprisingly over Twitter, after Weezy went on his anti-Miami rant and Trick Daddy stepped into his role as spokesperson for Miami defending his city. Security, according to TMZ, jumped in before Wayne could respond to the heat (literally coming from his hair).

Rick Ross Vs. Reebok

Reebok finally decided to take some responsibility when it dropped Rick Ross from his endorsement after protests of his lyrics made headlines. “Reebok holds our partners to a high standard and we expect them to live up to the values of our brand. Unfortunately, Rick Ross has failed to do so,” the brand said in a statement. Ross apologized for the U.O.E.N.O. lyrics just a day after a woman’s group protested outside a Reebok store in Manhattan. Ross said the lyrics, where he raps “Put Molly all up in her champagne, she ain't even know it, I took her home and I enjoyed that, she ain't even know it,” were misunderstood and misinterpreted as rape, and that he doesn’t condone the act of rape. In other words, believe him, not his raps.

Jay-Z Vs. The White House Press Secretary

Despite the lyrics to Jay-Z’s song “Open Letter,” which dropped early Thursday, it doesn’t look like Jay and Obama will be hanging on the beach, as Jay suggests in his rhyme. During a press conference, the White House Press Secretary answered a question about Jay-Z’s reference to Obama in the recently released song. “I got White House clearance/ Obama said ‘chill you gonna get me impeached/ You don’t need this…anyway, chill with me on the beach,” Jigga raps. Obama’s press secretary Jay Carney sarcastically answered, “I guess nothing rhymes with treasury,” before explaining that it’s the treasury that offers and gives licenses for travel. Carney stated that “the White House, from the President on down, had nothing to do with anybody’s travel to Cuba….The president did not communicate with Jay-Z over this trip.”
