9 Musicians Who Clapped Back At Cyber Trolls

Rihanna, Miley and Mimi aren't afraid to start a flame war.

By James Dinh

Whether they're creeping on Twitter feeds or creating memes for Instagram, Internet trolls are absolutely everywhere. We're guessing it won't take long for some to appear in the comment section below. Fortunately for us, we don't experience the same kind of dragging on social media as stars like, Selena Gomez, for example, who recently took on a fat shaming troll to no end. Sure, we might encounter some negativity, but it's the singers who really get hit hard when it comes to blogosphere hate. And yet, every now and then, it becomes simply too difficult for them to bite their tongues, so they clap back with the perfect responses.

Rihanna

From her infamous shutdowns to her recently registered SnapChat account, Rihanna is sort of like Queen of Social Media. Most recently, the pop preistess took aim at a troll, who speculated that she was snorting cocaine during her trip to Coachella. Riri was not happy with the accusations and went in with an explicit-filled rant that would make your mother cringe.

Bonus points for her follow-up Instagram post!

P!nk

P!nk has always been a woman of many words, and she wasn't taking any BS when people decided she looked fat during a recent red carpet event. Naturally, she pulled up the good ol' notepad app and wrote a lengthy response to those that were concerned about her weight.

Nelly

Don't mess with rappers and their kids. Take Nelly, for example. When someone decided to call his daughter a "thot," the MC was not too thrilled and put the hater in his place.

Janelle Monáe

Note to self: Janelle Monáe is not here for your crap. That lesson was made loud and clear by a user on Twitter, who criticized the singer for her lack of sexiness and all-embracing soul.

James Blunt

James Blunt is notorious for shutting down Internet trolls, but one of his most humorous responses came when one Twitter user confessed that his grandmother thinks the singer is "queer." His comeback was absolutely priceless.

Mariah Carey

After videos of Mariah’s lackluster vocals during her "Elusive Chanteuse Show" went viral, folks were quick to assume (and act like jerks in the process) that MC had lost all of her vocal talents. Mimi snapped back at the cyber trolls of the blogosphere with one subtle Instagram post, captioned "Cleaning and warming up my voice."

Tyrese

Once upon a time, in 2012, Tyrese misspelled the word necklace. It happens to the best us. However, his spelling mistake will live on forever courtesy of one Twitter user, who randomly tweeted about it just a few weeks ago. The tweet sort of went viral and Tyrese was not too pleased, so he offered up one big NSFW reply. Ouch.

Miley Cyrus

Miley Cyrus became pop's ‘it girl’ after the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards, but that didn't come without a price. After getting her twerk on absolutely everywhere, the former Disney starlet was met with a slaughter of criticism regarding cultural appropriation. Miley popped off with a simple two-sentence tweet that encompassed all of her feelings on the matter.

Travis Garland

When one fan criticized Travis Garland's girlfriend Aubrey O'Day on Instagram, the up-and-coming R&B singer went in and completely demolished the commentator with one heck of a rant. Best thing of all is he did it without any expletives and some stern common sense. Go figure!
