Since Sam Smith’s debut album In the Lonely Hour dropped last May, the VH1 You Oughta Know alum has taken over the music industry, bringing home four Grammys at this year’s ceremony.   1. He dreams of becoming a florist and moving to Italy

  2. He is is Lily Allen’s third cousin.

    By default, he’s also related to Lily’s brother Alfie, who works on a little show called Game of Thrones.

  3. He used to scrub toilets for work.

    Smith used to work in a bar scrubbing toilets, telling NPR, “I remind myself of that every day, at the moment, because I don’t want to take anything for granted.”

  4. He actually liked the Lost series finale.

    “I loved it, loved it. True Lost fans like it,” Smith told Rolling Stone.

  5. He’s BFFs with Rihanna

    And he’s very open about about his struggles, which include repeatedly checking sink faucets to ensure his house doesn’t flood. “I have really tough days,” he tells People. “But I’m trying to get over it and really enjoy myself and live in the moment a bit more and make memories that can last forever.”

  7. He really had never been in a relationship before.

    That whole lonely thing wasn’t an act. Prior to superstardom, his love-live was almost non existent. Apparently he kept falling for people who didn’t like him back (frown face).

  8. He’s double-jointed.
