Lupe Fiasco Teams Up With Umphrey's McGee For A Tribute To BB King
Lupe Fiasco missed his flight to Alabama's Gulf Shores yesterday. It happens to the best of us, but it's particularly unfortunate when you're about to perform at a tightly-scheduled music festival. Lupe ended up also missing his 2015 Hangout Fest slot as a result, but the transit fiasco resulted in a golden moment that more than made up for it.
Jam rockers Umphrey's McGee welcomed the talented but tardy rapper to the stage in the middle of their set, and together the two Chicago acts kicked into a special version of "THe Show Goes On." Guitarist Brendan Bayliss gave a dedication to the late BB King as the band played the Modest Mouse sample from Fiasco's 2011 track. The MC gave a spirited performance that we're sure reached BB, wherever he is.
