'Mr. Robot''s Season Finale Postponed in Light of Today's Virginia Shootings
USA Network has decided to postpone the season finale of Mr. Robot one week because a plot point is too similar to the tragic shootings that took place in Virginia this morning. (As we reported earlier today, two employees of the local CBS station WDBJ—Alison Parker and Adam Ward—were shot by a disgruntled former co-worker on live TV.)
“The previously filmed season finale of Mr. Robot contains a graphic scene similar in nature to today’s tragic events in Virginia,” USA said in a statement. “Out of respect to the victims, their families and colleagues, and our viewers, we are postponing tonight’s episode. Our thoughts go out to all those affected during this difficult time.”
The network will air the finale, which was scheduled for tonight, next Wednesday, Sept.2 at 10 p.m.
Mr. Robot is one of USA's breakout hits and revolves around an IT genius (Rami Malek) who works with hackers hellbent on destroying corporate America. It also stars Christian Slater and Carly Chaikin.
