These Youths Really Want Tom Hanks to Turn Up with Them at Their Homecoming Dance

Run, Forrest! Run—to Kerman High School.

Tom Hanks has many titles: Oscar winner, Tony nominee, Forrest Gump BAMF. But one notch he doesn't have on his belt? High school homecoming dance king. Don't fret, though. The kids at Kerman High School in Kerman, California are trying to change that.

KHS' student body has launched an epic social media campaign for Mr. Hanks to attend their homecoming dance October 9. In addition to creating the hashtag #TomHanks2KermanHighSchool, the kids have made Twitter and Facebook pages in hopes Tom will ~*notice*~ them and attend the dance. The efforts have since gone viral, so we think the chances of Tom catching on are pretty damn high.

"Our homecoming is huge. It's a small town, about 14,000 people," KHS Assistant Principal Margaret Nichols told ABC News. "Homecoming is a huge event for our whole community so each year we pick a theme. This year it's Tom Hanks movies. And then everyone thought, 'Well, let's try to get him here.'"

According to E! Online, the students have cooked up lots of Hanks-inspired homecoming treats to get his attention, including banners and floats. Come on, T! Don't let these kids' hard work go to waste.

Ideally, KHS wants Tom to physically show up and be their homecoming Grand Marshall. He hasn't replied to the campaign yet, but the dance is still more than a month away. We're keeping our fingers crossed!
