Tyler Oakley and Zoella Talk Body Image and the Pressures of Being a YouTube Phenomenon

The YouTube stars open up on serious issues that come with their Internet fame.

Streamy Awards host Tyler Oakley and fellow YouTube sensation Zoella slay us on the reg with their entertaining AF vids. But just because they constantly bring smiles to our faces doesn't mean rising to Internet fame has been easy. The two real-life BFFs spoke to Seventeen about the pressures of the world having access to them 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Tyler, who is watched by over 7.5 million subscribers, is open about his past eating disorder and says body image continues to weigh heavily on his mind. "With videos, meet and greets, and a million pictures a day, it's definitely a thing that I think about," he says. "It's not about clothes fitting. It's not about feeling chubbier than normal. I'd beat myself up over a day that I'm not active. If I'm lazy, then I feel grody."

Luckily, Zoella discloses some of her issues with cyber fame as well. "A lot of young people look at me and think, 'She has the perfect life: She's got the boyfriend, the house, the dog, the book, the successful YouTube channel,'" she said. "Not everything is perfect… Sometimes I have days where I don't want to leave my bed, or I'll have multiple panic attacks."

Pretty badass of them to openly discuss these problems with us, IMO. Catch all of your favorite YouTube stars at the 2015 Streamy Awards, next Thursday September 17 at 10/9C.
