This Dad Surprised His Daughter with a Game of Catch Instead of Traditional Father-Daughter Wedding Dance

A home run of preciousness.

The father-daughter dance is a long-held tradition at weddings. But not all dads and daughters are into dancing. So, Jim Mickunas decided to surprise his daughter with a sweet moment that was way more “them.”

“My daughter has always found her own path,” he says in the YouTube description of the video. “She played Flag football at 6. She hated wearing dresses. She wore a tuxedo to her first communion. She lettered in Soccer and Track. She then became an Engineer for the largest automaker in the world when she was 22. I could not imagine having a traditional father daughter dance with her. That is not what we were or are…So I came up with this. – She had no idea!”

Not only did he ditch out on the dance (you can hear someone say “they don’t dance much” while recording), he brought out a ball and mitts for a dancefloor game of catch. Then, because she has a new teammate, he hands over the mitt to his new son-in-law.
