Mariah Carey's Upcoming Hallmark Film 'A Christmas Melody' Was Definitely Inevitable

"Expect that Carey herself might also sing a song or two."

Human embodiment of Christmas Mariah Carey has come to remind us all who is Queen of the Holiday Season yet again.

Mariah is directing and starring alongside OG Mean Girl Lacey Chabert in a 2015 Hallmark Christmas movie called A Christmas Melody. This is most definitely happening, specifically on Saturday, December 18 at 8 p.m., so stock up on popcorn, like, yesterday.

The movie follows Kristin (Lacey), a "beautiful, stylish divorcee who is a talented clothing designer" as well as Kristin's daughter as they return to their Ohio roots from Manhattan. Mariah plays Melissa's rival who "tries to make Kristen feel as unwelcome as possible." Shady Mariah in movie form. This will be a doozy.

Here's Mariah's character in four sentences, via Jezebel:

Mariah Carey portrays a music teacher who helps a stressed-out young girl named Emily write a song she will sing at a town’s Christmas variety show. The girl has just moved with her mom to begin a new life just before the holidays. And the teacher does wonders to help with the adjustment process—also intervening to help her mother find love and happiness as well. Expect that Carey herself might also sing a song or two.

That last sentence is key. We shall indeed expect Mariah to sing, as "All I Want For Christmas Is You" is all over the promotion for the movie. But then again, would you have it any other way?

Watch the trailer for A Christmas Melody below, and stay tuned for its release on December 18 at 8 p.m.
