Natalie Cole — the Grammy-winning singer who blew us all away with her hit “This Will Be,” and groundbreaking performance of “Unforgettable” with her late father Nat King Cole — has died at age 65.
According to TMZ, Cole died from congestive heart failure, complications from a kidney transplant and Hepatitis C. Leading up to her passing, Natalie was struggling with illness. She cancelled several tour dates in late December including a New Year’s Eve concert at Disney Hall in L.A. She also cancelled an upcoming February concert due to sickness.
Sources close to Cole confirmed the news in a recent statement: “It is with heavy hearts that we bring to you all the news of our Mother and sister’s passing,” reads the statement. “Natalie fought a fierce, courageous battle, dying how she lived..with dignity, strength and honour. Our beloved Mother and sister will be greatly missed and remain UNFORGETTABLE in our hearts forever.”
